The deepest satisfaction is knowing your calling

I recalled in the last post a story about someone I knew who was a mismatch for his job. When that happens, it’s really hard to have some spunk, to be “spirited” at work.

We all know how important it is to match our career choice with our personalities, yet statistics tell us that the vast majority of people do not like their work.

A lot of it of course is caused not so much by the choice of work as the environment where it is done: the office culture, politics, physical surroundings, compatibility with co-workers, and bosses’ character.

But many people, if not most, don’t really know what they were “meant” to do; what suits their unique talents and personality; what their life’s purpose is.

And that’s a sad thing because nothing gives you the same satisfaction as having a deep sense of direction and work that suits your deepest calling.
