Overwhelm beyond overload
Is anyone else experiencing this?
The feeling of overwhelm seems to be lurking more than ever. I see it in others, and I experience it myself.
And the tendency to feel out of control and freeze seems to be out of proportion to what is on my plate.
I know I’m not alone because I’ve observed in others, and heard the comments from all sorts of competent people.
So what gives?
The logical answer would be that the pervasive pace of change and level of uncertainty has eroded our ability to take things in stride. We’re tired of walking on Jell-O.
But I think it’s bigger than logic. For example, my own circumstances don’t warrant this reduced resiliency. Yet I feel it, likely because as an empath, I pick up the energy, thoughts and feelings that are around me. And whether you think of yourself as someone who’s attuned to what’s around you or not, you are affected by the current collective “psyche”.
Fact is, I can give all sorts of explanations but what we’re more interested in is: what do we do about it?
For me, this current phase is teaching me that I can’t slack off in my practice of awareness and connecting with the deeper parts of myself.
The ante has been raised and I can’t get away with laziness anymore. I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re feeling the same way.
Let me know if I’m right about that in a comment, ok

I too pick up the energy from everyone around me. Luckily, I am much better at sheltering my energy than I used to be.
And I too have been feeling overwhelmed beyond overload. The other day I decided to write a blog post that featured some of my favorite blog reads for the week. I was amazed when four out or the five articles had to do with dealing with overwhelm.
I’ve found that I’m spending more time alone as one way to deal with it.
