Client satisfaction: it’s not just what you do it’s how you do it

And by “how”, I don’t mean just the mechanics or tactics.

Those are important; as we’ve learned many times over, the devil is in the details.

The most important “how”, however, is your intention.

If you are providing a service to a client and consciously intend to extend a positive energy with it (such as reassurance, respect or recognition), your client will be more pleased than if you’d done the same competent, thorough and honest service without thinking about your specific intention.

Skeptical? I have a challenge for you to try. It’s so simple it will wipe out all doubt.

Over the next few days, compare what happens at home when you prepare and serve some food or drink; something simple and uncomplicated: coffee, tea, a salad, cut up fruit, eggs and toast.

Prepare it once while projecting thoughts of love for your family when you prepare the items, and another time while keeping a neutral mind.

I bet your food will taste much better in the first instance. Try it several times if you think it’s a coincidence.

Your clients will feel the same way thanks to the power of intention.

I agree the “how” can be important, but the “what” has to be pretty good also! No matter what your intention, if you serve a client the equivalent of weak coffee and burned toast, you are in trouble.

Intention seems to carry an implication of being qualified and capable.

Yes, you’re right about needing to first be qualified and capable, otherwise all the intention in the world won’t help. Well it might make you want to do what it takes to become qualified and capable, but in the meantime, you can’t provide your service and meet your intention.

Your point is about delivering with love, compassion and attention. You are correct. That makes a difference in our delivery in EVERYTHING. Mechanically giving “care” doesn’t have the same impact on the recipient as giving loving care.

And it becomes a circle: We give loving care through our service, so the person we have given to is also able to give loving care to others.
