Getting through hard times is easier when you embrace life’s gifts
“People who outlive their prognosis are people who embrace life and everything life brings us.”
That is a quote from an article on cancer survivors in April 2009’s Alive Magazine (Canada’s Natural Health and Wellness Magazine, www.alive.com).
I find this an inspiring statement about how to get through any difficulty, health and otherwise.
Those of us who embrace [...]
New entrepreneurs tend to be starters, not finishers
I am not referring to their odds of succeeding, but to the part of the projects that they prefer to, and are best at, doing.
In the last post, I talked about how starters are one source of clutter, because they leave their papers, books and tools behind when they walk away from an unfinished project.
Starters [...]
Success at making changes: Start with the big rocks
You might have seen this demonstration in a seminar; I still get a kick out of it every time:
There is a jar full of sand and various-sized rocks. Your task if to figure out how to put several larger rocks in the jar without throwing away its content.
The larger rocks represent your latest important projects
The [...]
No wonder it’s hard to change
As a living being, we have amazingly powerful survival instincts, and they don’t like change because it represents the unknown.
Unknown means unproven which may mean danger, who knows? So our instinct thinks we’re better off to stay the way we are.
But eating a healthier diet (for example) is good for me, not a threat!
Never mind [...]
Did you break your New Year’s resolution yet?
A lot of people have by now; many didn’t even wait a day. And I know that’s not a great surprise, after all, we all chuckle knowingly over the New Year’s resolution jokes.
So why can’t you, like most people, keep your promise to yourself?
You don’t believe you can do it
After all, you have lots of [...]
Quick breakfast suggestions
Last time, I discussed how what we do first thing in our day, has a major impact on our energy and performance. Part of that healthy early morning routine, is having a nutritious breakfast.
Now I realize that we all have different body clocks and that some of us are not hungry when we get up. [...]
How to have energy left at the end of the day
Last week I shared my thoughts about Robert K. Cooper’s book “High Energy Living”, and promised to give examples of some of his tools and techniques. One of them starts at the beginning…of our day that is.
How do you start your day?
The vast majority of us would describe it with one adjective: rushed. That’s how I [...]
Most of us don’t believe that we can feel fully alive
The shockingly sad and true post title is a quote from a book called “High Energy Living” by Robert K. Cooper. Most of us accept this either because we’ve forgotten what it feels like to really feel good, and/or because we don’t know how we can change.
Sure we can reduce stress for a while, go on vacation [...]
